Nutanix Cluster

Nutanix Cluster is the foundational building block of Nutanix’s hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform, designed for scalable, resilient, and high-performance data center operations. A Nutanix cluster consists of multiple nodes, each combining compute, storage, and memory resources managed by the Nutanix Acropolis Operating System (AOS). This distributed architecture removes traditional infrastructure silos by converging servers and storage into a unified system.

Clusters can be configured as hybrid (SSD + HDD) or all-flash for optimized performance and capacity. Key components include the Controller Virtual Machine (CVM) for storage and cluster services, management and workload clusters for virtualization, and features like intelligent data tiering, replication, and encryption for data protection. Nutanix clusters support multiple hypervisors and enable seamless workload mobility, multi-site disaster recovery, and simplified administration through Nutanix Prism.
