Nutanix has released latest Nutanix AHV hypervisor version 20170830.337 with add-on feature and resolved the many issues in this latest AHV version. Let have a look below:
Installation and Upgrades
- Nutanix recommends that you upgrade to the latest supported AHV version as soon as possible if you upgrade AOS and are deploying an AHV environment.
- AHV is bundled with AOS and most versions are also available from the Nutanix support portal. After upgrading AOS, your cluster can temporarily run the unsupported or older AHV version until you complete the AHV upgrade. See the Compatibility Matrix.
- UTC timezone is recommended on AHV – The AHV upgrade process changes the AHV host timezone to UTC if it detects that the timezone is set to a timezone other than UTC.
- If you are upgrading from a previous AOS version and AHV version, you can use 1-click upgrade (Upgrade Software feature) through the Prism web console to upgrade AHV after upgrading AOS. The Prism Web Console Guide describes the AHV upgrade procedures.
Resolved Issues
Nutanix has fixed many known issues in this latest release of Nutanix AHV version 20170830.337 as mentioned below:
- You might observe the Guest VM shutdown unexpectedly.
- After renaming the Controller VM (CVM) using virsh domrename command, the CVM might not start automatically after restarting the host. This renaming procedure is not supported.
- AHV services (frodo and iSCSI) are optimized to timeout dynamically depending on the guidance from the stargate service to avoid static timeout delay.
- Upgrading AHV on clusters running AOS 5.10.x stalls with the following alert message. stderr: chmod: changing permissions of `/mnt/DRACRW`: Operation not permitted”
- Fixed a security vulnerability where vim/neovim: ‘:source!’ command allows arbitrary command execution through modelines.
- Fixed an issue where a guest user who is able to pass descriptors with invalid length to the host when migration is in progress, could use this flaw to increase his privileges on the host. (CVE-2019-14835)
Supported Browsers
The Prism web console provides a Launch Console feature for VMs managed by AHV. This feature opens a Virtual Network Computing (VNC) console which is supported on the following browsers. The web console will also warn you if you are using an unsupported browser.
- Mozilla Firefox version 38 or later
- Internet Explorer 11
Not Supported Feature
- Live migration is not supported for VMs that were created and configured to use SATA devices.
- Pausing and resuming a Windows 10 or Windows 2016 guest VM might cause the VM to stall or restart.
