Nutanix Prism web console is slow, not working, hanging issues troubleshooting

Nutanix Prism is the management web console of Nutanix HCI to mange anything to everything of Nutanix cluster.

But sometimes seems to have issue with Nutanix Prism like slowness, not working and hanging state issues frequently.

Nutanix Prism slow or hanging web console issue cause to stuck or not respoding the Prism service and need to stop, start or restart the Prism service once.

If you are also facing this kind of problem with your Nutanix Prism web console and want to troubleshoot the Prism issue then you need to follow troubleshooting steps as mentioned below :

Lets start the Nutanix Prism troubleshooting

Nutanix Prism Element Troubleshooting

I will explain how to stop, start and restart the Nutanix Prism service through command line.

Step 1 : Log into any Nutanix CVM of the Nutanix cluster through SSH

Step 2 : Find out Nutanix Prism leader of Nutanix cluster.

You can check the current Nutanix Prism leader by running command on any CVM

‘curl localhost:2019/prism/leader’

Step 3 : Log into Nutanix Prism leader CVM through SSH

Step 4 : Stop Nutanix Prism service

cvm$ genesis stop prism 

Note : Nutanix prism service will stop and will generate alerts on Prism
Just ignore them and clear all of them.

Step 5 : Start Nutanix Prism service

cvm$ cluster start

Note : Above commands will not impact on Nutanix cluster or production VMs.

Now, wait for up to 2-3 minutes to start the Nutanix Prism service to let it give the full control to manage Nutanix cluster again.

Nutanix Prism Central Troubleshooting

If you are facing the same Nutanix Prism central slowness, not working or hanging issues then follow steps.

As described commands above for “Nutanix Prism element” need to run same steps except step 2. Mentioned again below:

Step 1 : you need to log into Nutanix prism Central VM through SSH

Step 2 : Log into Nutanix Prism leader CVM through SSH

Step 3 : Stop Nutanix Prism service

Prism-Central-vm$ genesis stop prism 

Note : Nutanix prism service will stop and will generate alerts on Prism
Just ignore them and clear all of them.

Step 4 : Start Nutanix Prism service

 Prism-Central-vm$ cluster start

Note : Above commands will not impact on Nutanix cluster or production VMs.

Wait for up to 2-3 minutes to start the Nutanix Prism Central service to let it give the full control to manage Nutanix multi cluster.
